“We are delighted to partner with Finnlines with their ro-pax vessels, operating between six ports in three countries. Being a part of the Grimaldi Group, one of the world’s largest operators in Europe for both passengers and freight, Finnlines has established its position as an important provider of passenger services in the Baltic Sea. This is an important step for Telenor Maritime’s service-expansion into the Baltic Sea,” said Frode Støldal, CEO of Telenor Maritime.

Finnlines is the first to install the latest connectivity platform, becoming a digital frontrunner, we enable speeds and connectivity that are crucial for passengers quality of experience, and even more so in situations where we use mobile devices for business purposes. A new Wi-Fi solution is in place enabling passengers to use services to stream video, be in touch with their family and friends as well as surf seamlessly using their social network accounts,” Frode Støldal continues.

“We chose Telenor Maritime to provide the Wi-Fi, 3G and backhaul services, and have a long history and cooperation in many projects over the years. Telenor Maritime is one of the most experienced actors in this field, and we appreciate their expertise. We want to receive value for the money. We expect to further increase customer satisfaction with extensive coverage and faster Wi-Fi speeds during the sea voyage. Particular emphasis was put on covering areas such as cabins and other previously non covered sections on the ship. Evaluating the six-month piloting period on MS Finnmaid, we can easily say that we have succeeded,” said Kielo Vesikko, Head of Passenger Services, Line Manager of Finnlines.

“We are continually looking to develop the customer experience, we have performed a facelift on our vessels, and this Premium Wi-Fi service fits perfectly into the renewed concept, giving the finishing touch. The collaboration with Telenor Maritime has been productive, very smooth and flexible, with significant achievements and excellent results. Moving from free to paid service has been smooth, and throughout the six months piloting period on MS Finnmaid, the customer feedback has been very positive. Our customers appreciate the possibility to stay connected with high-quality Wi-Fi during the entire sea voyage,” Kielo Vesikko continues.
